Where the Magic Happens: Master

UPDATE 1/15/13: I am pleased to announce that the color missing from our room is currently underway! I'm adding some art above the bed rather than what's currently there, new bedding, and curtains. This room is something I love but I need color! Therefore, we are currently doing a mini-makeover and the master will look differently SOON!

It's that time... to blog about our bedroom. Where the "magic happens", or lack there of. James and I couldn't decide what we wanted for the bedroom. I decided I wanted the absence of color and we chose gray, black and white. I do want to incorporate some bright fun pillows but I haven't made it that far yet:)

We painted the room Elephant Skin by Behr to go with the grays in the rest of the lower level of the house. The color is splendid and the contrast of the black furniture is so appealing to me. I absolutely love it. Because of the darker walls and dark furniture we wanted to off-set those colors with solid white which is what we chose for the bedding, curtains, accents, etc...

The bedding is what we splurged on. We bought a beautiful damask stripe duvet cover and matching 700 ct. Egyptian cotton sheets. Never in my life have I spent $700 on bedding, but I did this time and I do NOT regret it. That cotton feels like heaven on a naked body (too much? Sorry). Seriously, though.

The solid white grommet curtain panels we got at Target for like, $25.00. So with the off-set of the white bedding with dark surroundings is beautiful to me. We kept the room simple, didn't want to add a lot of "stuff". The more rooms I redo, the more I start to understand the concept that "less is more". The Master was the room that made me understand that statement.

My favorite part of the room is probably my lamps from Hobby Lobby. I'm kind of obsessed with the whole "cat and the hat" feel I get from them. I think they are stinkin' amazing!

So there is our room. I love it. Once I get around to taking more pictures, I'll update the post! I'm just terrible with a camera and to be honest I don't have much time to take lots of pictures:)
